Back-To-School

Our Back-to-School Program is designed to help students from needy families get a positive start on their academic year.  We provide new backpacks, new athletic shoes, gently used clothing/school uniforms, school supplies and personal hygiene products to almost 800 children from families living in the thirteen communities we serve.  Due to a grant we receive each year from The Dater Foundation, we are able to provide better quality backpacks and serve more students than in the past.  This program enables each child to start the school year with a sense of pride at being able to look like every other student regardless of income level.  The number of students we are helping is increasing by about 20% each year.  If you are interested in donating to our Back-to-School Program please contact us at info@vifcc.org.

Christmas

Christmas is a special time of year for those connected to VIFCC.  Our community project includes assistance from our sponsoring congregations to individually reach out to the wider valley community.  This, however, is not accomplished without months of planning and organization.  The Food Basket segment provides items for a traditional Christmas dinner: turkey, stuffing, gravy, potatoes, bread, margarine, canned vegetables, and cookies plus a few basics for the winter break such as macaroni and cheese, cereal and peanut butter.  Through our Sharing Tree program individuals select a child’s name, purchase a toy and desired clothing item, wrap it nicely, attach the child’s name securely, and have it available for a pre-Christmas distribution.  We also provide families who could not be included in our Sharing Tree program, due to space limitations, the opportunity to choose a toy and clothing gift at our Friday Give-Away.   If you are interested in donating to our Christmas Program please contact us at info@vifcc.org.
