VIFCC is always looking for people to volunteer their time. There are numerous areas where we could use your help, whether it be in the food pantry, in clothing, as an interviewer or data entry, to name just a few. You can see the full description of these positions at the Volunteers page listed above. It is through the help of our volunteers that we are able to fulfill our mission. Please contact us at (513) 821-3233 to receive more information about this exciting and meaningful work.

VIFCC accepts clothing donations five days per week between 10 am and 2 pm. All we ask is that the clothing is clean and wearable.

Non-perishable food donations are accepted on the same schedule. VIFCC does not aggressively campaign for food donations because of the excellent leverage we have in making food purchases. We obtain the bulk of our food from the FreeStore/FoodBank at approximately 7 percent of the price paid at retail food stores. Simply stated, we can get $13 worth of food from a $1 donation.

One of the reasons we receive the enthusiastic cooperation of other agencies in our Expanded Services initiative is because we are not competing against those agencies for funding. Most of them are competing for government funds and grants. We are not. Congregations, individuals, businesses and business organizations privately fund us. However, now, more than ever, we are in need of financial help. With each passing year, our client base increases, as do their needs. Our client base is increasing but unfortunately our revenue is not. Your financial support is desperately needed and, since VIFCC is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit organization, all donations are tax deductible. Also, if you’re a current or former GE employee, GE will match any contribution you make to us. Your donation would provide a rare opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on improving the lives of people who live in your neighborhood.  Click here to donate on-line.

TO OUR SPONSORING CHURCHES

We have exciting news!

Beginning Wednesday October 1, 2008 the center will be open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM in addition to our regular hours.  This will allow more availability to clients who have jobs and also a chance to give those individuals who work a chance to volunteer.

We are building up our volunteer roster so that we have a full staff each day as well as subs to fill in for vacation times.

We are asking you for your help in recruiting NEW volunteers.  For Wednesday evenings, we are targeting younger working individuals to give them a chance to volunteer. For daytime, we need subs to help occasionally.

We need individuals for the following positions:

 - Greeting and processing paperwork for existing and new clients
 - Helping clients pick out clothes and personal items
 - Interviewing clients to help with rent and utility assistance
 - Data Entry
 - Helping clients with food choices in the pantry

Training will be given for each area. Working at the center is a rewarding experience for those who give freely of their time. Please call Anita Berry at Valley Interfaith 513-821-3233.
