VIFCC began in 1963 with a few volunteers from two Wyoming churches. Today, we are sponsored by 30 area congregations, serve 13 local communities, and have a cadre of 100+ volunteers. Our mission is ‘To assist our neighbors in need with food, clothing, emergency financial assistance and other necessary services by linking willing and able clients with resources which will help them break their cycle of dependency, and provide them with a new beginning.’We touch the lives of about 20,000 individuals per year and could not do this without the generous help of our sponsoring congregations, and the support from local residents, agencies, and businesses.Supplemented by two special programs (click here to visit our ‘Special Programs’ page), our mission has remained the same as we constantly change and implement new and exciting ideas to better serve our clients.

We depend on private donations of clothing, food, personal care items, household goods, and money to accomplish our mission. We utilize the services of over 100 volunteers, most of them working an average of four hours per week, in a variety of different positions.

Congregations select VIFCC as their agency for meeting the needs of the less fortunate because we operate a disciplined, uniform, yet compassionate system of providing help. Clients are required to provide substantiation of need to discourage dependence and are limited in the frequency of their visits.

We help an average of 45 individuals each day, equating to over 20,000 client visits per year. Most of our clients need food and personal care products (86%), over half (68%) need clothing and household items and 21% need financial help. We obtain most of our food from Cincinnati’s FreeStore/FoodBank and we follow USDA guidelines in selecting what we offer to our clients. The financial assistance we provide helps clients avoid eviction and utility shut-off.
